The Trips were a 60s-70s garage and classic rock tribute band from Memphis that existed in various incarnations and with various members from 2007-09. Our songs covered the 15-year period in U.K. and U.S. rock from 1964-78, and included bands like the Stones, Animals, Yardbirds, Kinks, Who, Cream, Badfinger, Free, Tom Petty, and the Cars.
We went into hiatus, as members pursued other projects, but left the site up so visitors can enjoy a bunch (more than 30) of rough cuts of 60s and 70s rock classics, everything from Herman's Hermits to Cheap Trick. Click the double-arrow forward button to cycle through them. Crank up the volume! The Trips sound best LOUD.
Most bands wisely only post heavily processed studio versions of their songs online. Multi-tracked, overdubbed, processed studio recordings sound MUCH better than live recordings on a pocket recorder lying on the floor. But the Trips were all about capturing the LIVE raw power of classic garage rock music, warts and all. Many of the songs were "one-offs" (band lingo for one attempt).
Most of songs were recorded during rehearsals, although a few were recorded at events.
